Griha Pravesh Invitation Quotes

"I do not know who you are son, but you were my brother. I love you "

Rules of Engagement by William Langewiesche

On 19 November 2005 in Al-Haditha, Iraq , an American convoy is destroyed by an antitank mine: a Marine died in the attack. The military court is still investigating Pendleton - whose relationship has never been made public - the violent retaliation immediately implemented by the surviving marines. An everyday occurrence for those who live Iraq, a case of hot gravity for the West to tell is the voice of William Langewiesche, correspondent for Atlantic Monthly magazine . Surveys and reports by the journalist did your books: Rules of engagement is the fifth Italian publication, again for Adelphi. Langewiesche reconstructs the story of Kilo Company, now in its third rotation in Iraq and now the protagonist a court case that probably will never reach a formal conclusion. The death of a comrade after the attack directed against their vehicle, pushing the marines to penetrate the homes near the blast site and kill all the occupants: "Killing is not a crime - not in Iraq, not whether the rules allow. " Two families of civilians - innocent and harmless nineteen people - are brutally killed. What happened to the American command is not nearly as noteworthy, for the soldiers directly involved it was to apply directives to the letter above, which, in their view, fully justify them. With his direct style, Langewiesche recounts an event dramatic without falling into banality, the easy emotion, the pathos free. There is no rhetoric or sentimental complacency in the most gruesome descriptions, but only the desire to return made no omissions and no frills. The drama that still manages to evoke the atmosphere that recreates the plurality of points of view that considers the grotesque concept of "truth" that emerge are the strengths of a book that points to the dignity of work literary rather than journalistic.

The film, supported by a number istitutizioni of Lombardy, it arrives in our cinemas with distribution Lab80 (formerly distributor of "The Wind Blows Round", held in Milan for more than a year) with the first release expected on November 14.

results that only seemed to be less desirable than a year ago, has now become the starting point for a nation-wide distribution in theaters.

Leo and Ali ', the two young protagonists, we open the doors of their inner life, giving us an overview of the micro-cosmos adolescent far from the clichés which are used by the entertainment world.

We explain it that their fears, their worries, their illnesses have deep roots and have to do with the need for a confrontation with their parents, with the need for approval from their peers, fear of abandonment, of loneliness and the fear of not being able to find yourself becoming overwhelmed by everything that surrounds them.

A unique film, halfway between reality and fairy tale that manages to speak to an audience of kids of all ages.

As reported by the motivations of the jury of Cannes, "a film in which, finally, we Boys able to feel represented. Even in the adult world. "

The film will be screened for the first Milan, December 5 at the cinema of Mexico via Savona 57 to 20:30, will also feature the cast.

Enjoy!

Fragments of truth

The notes of the judge Paolo Borsellino published for the second time

'Mafia and justice. Seemingly natural combination of two terms. The Mafia (abs. for. Delinq.) Is a crime and justice is called upon to suppress it. So: the Mafia thrives if justice is not working or malfunctioning. He wrote thus Paolo Borsellino in 1990, compiling notes that were to serve due to the setting of talks be held in public. You
Manfredi Borsellino, Commissioner of Police in Palermo and son of the late judge, to have collected, in his home studio, the private writings, the evidence upon which the father worked and that left unfinished at his death. They created a book: Truth and Justice. The unpublished writings of Judge Paolo Borsellino (collection of books of the Regional Council of the Marches, 2008), a book that looks perhaps more like a notebook of sketches, notes, speeches tracks. Giorgio Bongiovanni, editor of the Anti-Mafia 2000, overseeing the publication of these notes, autographs, decided to leave them exactly as they were: fragmented, with their abbreviations, even with the darts made by Borsellino to connect the thoughts, intervening only where the understanding was difficult. The book are included scans of some pages of notes, to their undoubted value of the document and to show the quality of editorial choices employed. This
to return, along with the lyrics, the way in which the judge worked, preparing to appear before an audience of any kind, but also because they do not talk about an era that marked the Palermo at the time, but Italy today. With a sudden more and more rushed, with more biting irony, Borsellino emphasizes his disapproval of the attacks against the independence of the judiciary, especially with respect to a policy of anti-mafia front, established after the emotion-related massacre Capaci. What is striking, in the overall context of the thoughts of a man is personally committed to the fight against mafia and aware of how a death sentence already rests on him, is the clarity of analysis of the phenomenon Cosa Nostra, its mechanisms, its power as an "anti-state." The issue of organized crime today is not just about the five Italian regions directly affected by the phenomenon, but affects us all, because "the gangs are not just an organization of people dedicated to the crime, the mafia is an idea that can creep into everyone's mind: the idea of taking a shortcut trampling on someone else, the idea that the strong have the right to bully the weak, the idea that power and wealth are the ultimate goal of life and the arrogance and violence are a legitimate means to achieve them, " says Michael Altobelli, Secretary of the Regional Council of the Marches, an organization that promoted the second edition of the unpublished Borsellino - already come to the press in 2003 by the Cultural Falcone and Borsellino, and the magazine always Antimafia 2000 and edited by George Bongiovanni. Since the new edition of the book, included in the promotion of values that pursues Antimafia 2000, created several initiatives to raise awareness of a national citizens before an audience of readers, because the law is not - and can not be considered - a minor problem in the life of a State. To give voice to these and many other issues are the son and the brother of the late Judge Manfredi and Salvatore Borsellino, alongside the preparation of the 2000 Anti-mafia remember the sacrifice of all the victims of the mafia and fighting for respect for institutions. "The dream of my brother Paul was changing things and it did. How Ingroia, I think that the Second Republic was born from his blood and that of Falcone "- says Salvatore Borsellino Rocca Tiepolo (AN), during the summer tour to promote the book -" Until the end Paul said he was optimistic of believe in young people. I could not stand afterwards. I could not go into schools, talking with the guys, because I had too much anger. I started only recently, since the stench of compromise has become too strong to withstand. " To His words, on the same occasion, echo those of Pasquale Zacchaeus: "The State shall be protected with pure values, and served with loyalty and sacrifice, the courage to confess the truth." In the words of Martin Luther King, to frighten are not the words of the violent, but the silence of the honest. Giovanna

Tino Sehgal, the GAM Foundation Trussardi

Tino Sehgal The Kiss!

This is so contemporary! Villa Reale di Milano - GAM, Gallery of Modern Art or container in which they are magnificent works of art of great value since the beginning of 700 900, by Canova Induno brethren, by Francis Segantini Hayez. The paintings and sculptures are multiplied on two floors of the villa, among others, passed from the hands of General Radetzky, and of Pauline Bonaparte, whose reputation is underlined by the architecture and the austere and sumptuous decorations and monumental at the same time sensual Early Classical Appiah. This month this space becomes the fifth stage, the stage chosen by Trussardi Foundation, through its artistic director, Massimiliano Gioni, to present the first solo exhibition in Italy of the British, but German adoption of Tino Sehgal. Born in 1976. It is no coincidence that stage, since the visit to this exhibition can not remain indifferent to the contrary is a unique, surprising and participatory. Sunday afternoon in November. I just crossed the threshold of entry and a keeper of the museum informed me about something that happened today, adding in conclusion "Tino Sehgal". I am also in the halls of the palace, crowded with many visitors and tourists, of which only one party is aware of the show, and while I admire the beautiful (of course with some exceptions!) Above works, and the wonderful frescoed halls and rich stucco and mirrors whose brightness is enhanced by sunlight crashing on large windows, I am suddenly attacked by three guards, instead of sitting to control the behavior of visitors with an eye to the crossword, picked those that seem to spasm sudden, sing, dance and recite a refrain that still have in my head "This is so contemporary, contemporary, contemporary!" The first thought that whale the head is ... absurd! where I ended? perhaps the show is not here, where are the works? But I am completely surprised by the continuing brilliance of the young Sehgal, that with this show continues to unleash all his unconventionality, real or perceived, against the art system, using "living works as" their own: the keepers of the museum. For about a month it is these people, I discover after reading the press release of the exhibition, chosen after extensive hearings by the artist himself, who becomes a work of art or, rather, whose task is to embody, literally!, Thoughts, words and gestures of the artist. No catalog, no statement, no contract, no written notice to Sehgal, what matters is only the word: the verbal agreement and the suggestion that it generates. Art is communication, it has always been and must remain so. The communication is largely oral exchange of opinions and points of view, reception of emotions. All this can be heard through, one after another, the halls of the gallery. After the story of the main fact of the day and the dance of the guards, climb the staircase and as she begins to appear before the eyes as that famous painting of the "Fourth Estate" of Pellizza Volpedo from start to feel even a short and sharp chorus sung by a woman "this is propaganda. ... perfect: how much truth to the people that employee advancing slowly! Go on and I am in the ballroom, mirrors and crystals and all, right in between these two dancers roll embraces that follow those of art history's most famous and multiply many times. I am looking for amazing wax busts of Medardo Rosso and I come abruptly disturbed. A guard told me: "But I'm Seghal do you want? It 's a bit cocky no, why have you come to disturb us and visitors used the GAM? It Art? but as if he does not want us to be witnesses of his work that presents itself as a legend? Wants you to interact with "the works" but you come into contact with something that already exists. He wants to get out of time and space, but making art is impossible, you can not get out of time and space ... so what? "After about ten minutes, the guard looks at me and says," This is critique "Tino Seghal 2008. Brilliant! The boy in Berlin is no joke! Do not even leave room for criticism. ... Prevents this possibility even self-critical dialogue and providing insights to the value of contemporary art. Incredible open debate. Art without art object. Absurd or genius? This is so contemporary!

Control

Ian Curtis
on 25 October has finally arrived in Italian cinemas Control, the film by Anton Corbijn (famous Dutch photographer father of video art by artists such as U2, Miles Davis, Depeche Mode, Nirvana and Coldplay), which tells the story of Ian Curtis, leader of the British band Joy Division. A little 'provincialism for a bit' for the particularity of the music group, which in Europe is to worship and whose frontman Kurt Cobain a myth comparable to, are almost sconosciuti.La film (film debut of Corbijn), filmed entirely in white and black, to make the full historical period, tells the story of Ian Curtis based on the biography of his wife. The parable of fulminant Curtis and his character, charismatic, epileptic, autistic almost nell'estraneazione, who committed suicide at twenty-four, is rendered in a masterly manner. The history and faithfully reported without being novel, the only remark is perhaps in a too insistent to identify as the cause of the suicide, emotional problems, probably due to the fact that the story of the film is based on the biography written by his wife of the singer. Dip them in the background there, epilepsy, living with distress and despair by Ian and his character that made it very sensitive, but too fragile. The protagonist is played by Sam Riley (first film starring role), chosen for the great similarity with Ian. Gravitate around him his wife Debbie Woodruff played by Samantha Morton, a promising British actress mistress Annik Honoré, a journalist and falls in love with Ian in the role of which engages Alexandra Maria Lara. The film tells the story of a boy who aspires to something much more than live in his Manchester, an industrial city and gray. Listening to people like David Bowie and Iggy Pop decided to begin to tread the stages of the suburbs with a group of friends make the dreams of their lives. The result is explosive because it combines good technical skills of the boys with the wounded soul of the singer in the lyrics and a voice from beyond the grave bride with a distorted music accompanied by percussion that seem to come straight from hell. The fears and emotions that feed his music, however, begin to eat slowly and inexorably. Married with one daughter already at nineteen, not care of the family that he's only source of anxiety and fear. Falls for a young journalist. Being deeply in love with two women leads him to suffer terribly and then to abandon the family. The tension and fatigue, however, undermine his mental health and epilepsy to be added to his guilt and his depression also physical. Surrendering to the weight of responsibility, Ian is left eating his restless soul and tortured. Desperate puts an end to his suffering, committing suicide only 23 years. It tells the actor who played him: "The first thing everyone was asking me how I felt the idea of playing a legend. So that's how people see it, but I did not want to think of him in this way. You can not interpret a legend without putting a certain pomposity in the role while he was a normal person, a guy like many. E 'was only his untimely death, so to make him a legend that continues to fascinate people. "A great film. To see.

Crossdressers In Girdle

Oil: vital liquid

I met Andrei Molodkin a September evening when ' opening of a tunnel Milan. Andrei was born in Russia, St. Petersburg and worked for two years military service in Russian. During this period Molodkin has approached the practice of design, which achieves the same with those pens that are given to soldiers to write letters to their families. Realized in this way the great tele-posters that have overwhelmingly dominant figure as that of the skull, often associated with words of explicit reference to political and religious. "Who is afraid of the Democratic death" is the phrase that stands on one of these paintings, mural size that is two huge skulls, painted on a blue background and red. The reference to American country is made explicit by the choice colors that recall the U.S. flag as well as that of Russia. Also during the period of military service, Andrew decides to use his work to another medium, not just purely artistic oil.
The idea of using this black liquid, slimy and smelly, definitely comes from a few episodes of the military period, but has a particular meaning of explicit political valence. In
'work entitled "In God We Trust" Molodkin made two small Plexiglas sculptures representing Christ crucified: one is filled with red liquid, blood-red, and the other hand, is filled with oil. The two sculptures are connected by small tubes, a pump, just like the iris of the heart, pushes the liquid it contains, without ever an exchange that occurs between them. Everything is filmed by a CCTV camera and projected to the entire wall. To make the work even more common, the artist has a microphone connected to the pump, every time it pushes the liquid into the sculpture, the noise is amplified and transmitted on a regular basis, just like the beating of the heart. 'S work with its pumps and the mechanism of emptying and filling of the sculpture becomes a metaphor for a transfusion, as if oil was the blood of the earth, which infects at the same time gives life. The three-dimensional sculptural form and the dynamism of the oil that passes through them into metaphors for transformation and the dynamic tension between life and death. And 'as if there were a few references to the concept of resurrection, through the idea of blood, having stopped flowing in the veins, is transformed into another liquid, deep and eternal that sneaks into the arteries of the world.
In the other works ever with oil, Molodkin, use three-dimensional writing of various kinds: "Democracy," "Justice," "y € s", "$$", all symbols and words that refer to values in which the company today tend to believe, but today have become meaningless and empty, for Molodkin so the only way that these have to be able to recover the value is to be "filled" with the oil that flows like blood in his veins, assumes the importance of the heroine of the twentieth century. The materialist view of Molodkin embodies a criticism that may sound trite and repetitive, but is expressed by the artist in a new and very original. His sculptures, which have a vocation as a museum rather than from the gallery, have a strong visual impact, even if you can not share his thoughts and his complaint, one can not help but be impressed by the strength and the major artists of his work.

Barley Flakes Good For You

" The art is not so much what you do but what you have! " A. Jarre

The Eyes of Gutete, Alfredo Jarre , 1996

Art is before all key for interpretation of reality. I find it useful to get help from an artist to see what the world around us to ask questions and to outline the possible answers. The creative energy of art that is put at the service of present reality with the hope that this helps to make us think and take a stand people. It Is Difficult With this in mind, the retrospective exhibition dedicated to Alfredo Jarre has always been committed to art related to the true reality of our time and its urgency, it is an extraordinary example of this way of being an artist "committed" . What most arouses my interest for this artist is his ability to shake our beliefs through the works. I can not share political views, but I can not deny that the art of Jarre favors a chance to really open dialogue on issues in today's world of globalization and the crisis, particularly hot. Alfredo Jarre, for his architectural training and more for his experience under the Pinochet regime, for which the opposition was forced into exile in New York in the eighties, has always refused to make "art for art's sake", to speak of the concept of art in itself or to focus only on a purely aesthetic, formalistic or staff. Instead, he has always tried to use all these elements help the viewer to understand more about the world we live in, to interact with the social context of today. Deeply critical of the way that the media used to provide information, in his works, be it video, light boxes (literally "light boxes", ie works between the pictorial and photographic), or installations, Jarre is always an invitation to the viewer to experience the world in a manner different from that newspapers, television and internet continuously offer. His works therefore have a strong impact of political and social criticism, dealing with topics such as the tragic genocide in Rwanda or the situation of extreme poverty experienced by miners in Brazil, but at the same time are characterized by their formal beauty, treated in detail . This appears clearly in Geography = War, installation consisting of two works of 1991 that Jarre has six light boxes whose images of human faces reflected in mirrors so as to come to us filtered. The installation space Oberdan represents the new routes of international relations, while in the Hangar Bicocca Jarre projects in cans containing liquid dark blacks, who represent the traffic of toxic waste from rich countries that are disposed of in West Africa, the faces of children forced to play their contact with these poisons. In the wonderful how tragic setup The Eyes of Gutete Emerita of 1996, the viewer is confronted with a million slides depicting the eyes of a woman who has massacred before his eyes saw her husband and two children. This looks a million bears witness to the uniqueness of each and at the same time is a metaphor for the overwhelming number of deaths in the Rwandan genocide. In the work of Jarre can also read references to art history, as in the case of neon light boxes similar to Dan Flavin, regarded as a tutelary deity in this mode of art, however, useful to reflect on the conditions of individual miners referred Brazilians appear portraits. The artist strongly believes in the responsible role that culture can play in our society and this is the proposed Public Questions Questions for the city of Milan. All citizens are asked about the value of the culture today, in order to awaken the commitment of the community because the artist believes that "art is not so much what you do but what you have." Although they may look a bit 'discounted posts by Jarre, strikes me see the reconciliation of art has always been synonymous with the search for beauty but also of particular sensitivity, and context in which we live. A great opportunity then this show, as evidenced also Emergencia: the installation consists of a large pool of black water from which, every 12 minutes, slowly emerging, and then sinking again, the African continent, a huge symbol for Alfredo Jarre presence, too often forgotten by the rest of the world. More precisely this is the cry that comes from all works of Chilean artist on display at the Hangar Bicocca Spazio Oberdan that up to January 2009. Not to be missed. Maria Cecilia

Cio'che know about the Eucharistic Miracle of Trani

Around the 'one thousand years, a Eucharistic miracle occurred in Trani.
According to historical sources, a young Jewish woman si'mescolo ', during a Mass, including the Christian people. Riusci'a perfectly recite all the prayers as a true devotee.
